Today, in the Castle/Museum of Warmia in Lidzbark Warmiński, the last class of "Archaeology for Seniors" took place. The face tiles of the stove tiles were made by the participants of the workshops as part of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century bishops' castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – stage III".
The tiles were made with the use of matrices purchased as part of the project from two materials – clay and gypsum. The ornaments depicted on them reproduce the actual decorations of the tiles from the Lidzbark stoves from the 15th-18th centuries. Individual pieces have been hand-painted. Some of the clay tiles were covered with glaze and fired in the ceramics workshop of the Special Educational Center in Lidzbark Warmiński.
The classes were attended by seniors, residents of Lidzbark Warmiński. "It's great to learn new things and practice your mindfulness," said one of the workshop participants.
At the end, the tiles were displayed in a display case in the castle hall.
