Despite the bad weather, intensive works are underway in the dry moat of the Lidzbark castle, and three eighteenth-century sculptures are waiting to be placed in the arranged bishop's gardens.

Figure of Neptune (Greek: Poseidon), Allegorical sculpture, Baroque, XVIII century
Today, as the first one, we present the figure of Neptune (Greek: Poseidon), an allegorical Baroque sculpture from the eighteenth century.
In the inventory from 1742 there is a mention of a fountain with a statue of Neptune set on the axis between the palace on the zwinger and the tower. The remains of this fountain are most likely a figure of Neptune made of Gotland sandstone.

This high-class artistic sculpture is an undeniable part of the history of the Lidzbark castle and the legacy of the artistic patronage of Bishop Krzysztof Andrzej Szembek, who held this position in the years 1724-1740.

The conservation of the sculptures was carried out as part of the project:
Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – stage III" is co-financed from funds received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as part of the EEA funds, from the state budget and co-financed by the Local Government of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
