Culinary Festival Castle Flavors
For more information:
???? 1.Towarzystwo Naukowe Pruthenia - "Prusai from the village of Sędyty"
Prussian housewives will present dishes from the borderline of tribal times and the full Middle Ages. At their stand you will be able to try to get flour in a trough mill, try dishes cooked in clay pots in a bonfire or bread straight from a clay oven. There will also be herbal infusions, ash eggs and barn owls.
???? 2. The Brotherhood of Knights St. Peter's Convention
Medieval cuisine, especially that of rich mansions, was closely related to the gifts of forests and lakes. Hence our proposal to present roasting birds on a rotary spit and smoking fish and meat in a mobile smokehouse. In both cases, we will use alder wood, which best reflects the smell and taste of dishes prepared on the fire. On the tables of both magnates and poor peasantry at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries could not miss dishes made on the basis of cereals and legumes. You will be able to get acquainted with the method of making and baking a substitute bread – podpłomyków. We will offer you food from the pot on a live fire prepared. The ingredients of this dish always corresponded to the wealth of the host's pantry and the availability of vegetables at a given time of year. Because autumn gives us rich crops, I can vouch that it will not be lebioda, nettle or birch bark./ Cezary Jacek Krasowski Ślepowron coat of arms
???? 3. Małgorzata Krasna-Korycińska - Archeoconcept
The times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth will be represented by dishes far from modern ones. Scrambled eggs with cinnamon or cauliflower with lemon are combinations that, although they seem bizarre today, fully corresponded to seventeenth-century tastes. At the stand you will also be able to try fish pudding and mustard with pears and saffron.
???? 4. Paweł Szymański – garncarnia.pl
At this stand, participants will be able to bake bliny – nineteenth-century bread pies. This is not an easy thing. To do this, you will need to use a rural, rotating quern to obtain flour from your own composition of cereals! The baking itself will take place in a domed clay oven on clay pans and in bakery lampshades.
???? The 5th Vilnius Musketeer Regiment will once again be hosted at the Castle in Lidzbark Warmiński. A unit that historically participated in the Battle of Heilsberg in 1807 on the side of the Prussian-Russian coalition. At the same time, it will be the 218th anniversary of the founding of the Regiment. The regimental kitchen on the hearths will prepare a typical military meal from the early nineteenth century. A rich soup of salt and groats in a cauldron will allow you to get acquainted with what allowed soldiers for long marches and many hours of battles.
The small diorama of the camp will be enriched with soldiers in uniform and civilians from the Napoleonic Wars.
We provide fun, a large dose of historical knowledge and long conversations by the campfire.
It will be tasty and noisy. I hope that as an officer I will be able to control the soldiership and no one will rob the city./Rafał Pliszka
