On the initiative of friends from the Banner of the Bishop of Warmia and the Olsztyn group ARMA in our museum in Lidzbark we will deal with Old European Martial Arts (DESW).
DESW, also known as HEMA (Historical European martial arts), is a martial art of European origin that combines history and sport in a unique way. Their essence is the reconstruction of old methods of fighting on the basis of instructions left by masters from centuries ago (about, for example, here: https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/Main_Page). DESW is an art practiced mainly without armor, but with the use of modern fencing equipment and safe steel weapons.
The group is already after the first few meetings. The first training took place during the night of museums on May 13. Despite the late evening time, the turnout was excellent and everyone had a great time. Participants had the opportunity to learn the basics of long sword fencing according to the German school.

If you are interested in trying your hand, we cordially invite you to training at the castle in Lidzbark, which takes place on Wednesdays at 18:00. You don't need anything more than a sports outfit and you're over 18 years old.

We invite you to our project and joint development of the cultural heritage of our small homeland!
What is the Social Partnership Programme? We are happy to share this great initiative with you. The program consists of two parts, which aim to develop local cultural heritage and support the development of "small homelands".
The first part of the program included training prepared by our partners from Høgskulen for grøn utvikling from Norway. The training was addressed to representatives of interested groups and environments. It focused on using the potential of local cultural heritage to support community development. It was an extraordinary opportunity to gain valuable skills and knowledge.
The second part of the programme is the implementation of three projects that have been selected from among proposals from the social partners. Together with Høgskulen for grøn utvikling, we put them into practice. This is an opportunity for local communities to use the infrastructure and staff of the castle in Lidzbark Warmiński to create something new that meets their needs.
