"Deepening bilateral cooperation between the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and the Norwegian Institute of Culture and National Heritage through study visits, conference and publication" – partnership activities in the period 24.06.2015 – 30.04.2016 co-financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014 under part "b" of the Bilateral Cooperation Fund (FWD "b").
In connection with the implementation of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – ii stage", co-financed by the EEA Ministry of Finance 2009-2014 and NMF as part of the "Conservation and revitalization of cultural heritage" Program, partner activities entitled "Deepening bilateral cooperation between the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and the Norwegian Institute of Culture and National Heritage through study visits, conference and publication of publications" were undertaken.
As part of the Bilateral Cooperation Fund with the Partner Norsk Institutt for Kulturminneforskning (Norwegian Institute of Culture and National Heritage, abbreviated as NIKU), the following will take place: a study visit of NIKU employees in Poland, a study visit of employees of the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Norway and a conference. As part of the project, a publication containing speakers' speeches and photographic documentation will also be published.
The visit of Norwegians to Poland is aimed at presenting them with the architecture of Warmia, including medieval polychromes in the Lidzbark castle, while Poles in Norway will get acquainted with the local medieval sacral architecture and polychromes. The partners will present the results of the conducted research, methods of monument protection, the course and documentation of conservation works performed, the prevention used and methods of pest control.
The aim of the planned activities is to maintain and strengthen relations between partners. Study visits and a joint conference will enable the exchange of views, knowledge and experience in the field of monument conservation and the dissemination of good practices in this field. The publication, which is a summary of the implemented activities, will contribute to the popularization of knowledge about modern methods and techniques of conservation.
