The second stage of conservation works in the Lidzbark castle will start

The Museum of Warmia and Mazury received over PLN 13 million for the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński - pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland".

[b] The Museum of Warmia and Mazury in partnership with The Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research submitted a project

"Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – ii stage". On February 12, we received information about the co-financing of our project by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the amount of PLN 13,390,700. The whole is to cost PLN 19,368,870. [/ b]

We plan to carry out the following works m.in: renovation of the roofs of the four wings and towers of the castle, conservation works of the southern façade, three turrets and the tower (in the octagonal part), continuation of conservation works of the walls and vaults of the first floor of the cloisters of the castle - restoration works, modernization of the electrical and lightning protection installation (including intelligent lighting of the cloisters), adaptation of the cellars of the northern wing for exhibition purposes, preparation of an exhibition on the construction history of the residences of the Warmian bishops, digitization of monuments and creation of a virtual space of the castle (including virtual tour of the cloisters), conservation of movable monuments, purchase of equipment for educational purposes and to improve the functioning of the exhibition in the castle.
