How to transfer monuments to the virtual world?
Of course, you can use a 3D scanner for this purpose, but sometimes a regular camera is also enough!
One of the elements of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – III stage" was to train our employees in creating three-dimensional models of monuments based on photographs. Professionally, this is called short-range photogrammetry and is widely used, for example, when creating plans and maps.
During the training conducted by ProGea Sky, our employees learned, among others, to use Metashapie Agisoft, CloudCompare, Meshlab and Blender software. All this in order to provide you with the opportunity to visit one of our monuments in augmented reality. Whose? It's a ;) mystery for now, but probably some of you already guess, right?
The training took place as part of the project "Conservation and restoration of the fourteenth-century castle in Lidzbark Warmiński – pearls of Gothic architecture in Poland – iii stage" implemented from funds received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under EEA funds and funds from the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport and the Self-Government of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.
